Keep emergency for emergencies
If you’re not sure if it’s an emergency, call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) and talk to a registered nurse. They can help you decide if you need to see your doctor, pharmacist or go to an emergency department.
In an emergency, call Triple Zero (000) and ask for an ambulance.
Satellite hospitals
Seven new satellite hospitals across South East Queensland are taking pressure off emergency departments. Each includes a Minor Injury and Illness Clinic for walk-in and urgent treatment of non-life threatening needs like
- simple fractures
- simple infections
- toothaches
- minor burns
- minor head injuries.
The Minor Injury and Illness Clinics will be open 7 days a week, free for Medicare card holders and you won’t need an appointment.
