  • CPB Contractors have signed a new and improved agreement to deliver the new Bundaberg Hospital.
  • Stage 1 will deliver more than 200 beds and bed alternatives and remains on track for completion in 2031.
  • Main works construction will commence later this year with lift cores and the first ground slab poured by the end of the year.
  • Works to install about 470 foundation piles has begun, undertaken by three piling rigs which weigh more than 140,000 kilograms apiece and stand at more than 46 metres.

Overview

With a growing and ageing population, the new Bundaberg Hospital is an essential project to make sure Queenslanders living in our regions have easier access to specialised health services. Increasing bed capacity and improving access to healthcare in Bundaberg will ensure community needs continue to be met, now and in the future.

The Hospital Rescue Plan will deliver:

More than 410 total beds and bed alternatives
At least 139 new overnight beds
Level 5 services including emergency and maternity
A new design that transfers all services and beds to the new site
Better planning and consultation to meet clinical needs
Mitigation of flooding risk by moving to new site
A multi-storey car park.
