Right across the state, the Queensland Government is investing in the future of our health system to give Queenslanders access to health services when they need them.
This means better healthcare closer to home through the delivery of more hospitals, more beds, more frontline services and more staff accommodation, right across the state.
The Hospital Rescue Plan will deliver more than 2,600 extra beds across Queensland through new hospitals, major expansions and upgrades to existing facilities.
This includes three new hospitals and 10 major hospital expansion projects across metro, regional and rural Queensland, ensuring communities have access to modern healthcare facilities now and into the future.
Clear construction milestones and delivery timeframes have been set to ensure Queenslanders can see progress being made on critical health infrastructure projects.
More beds mean hospitals can care for more patients safely and efficiently, while improving access to emergency care, surgery, maternity services, mental health care and specialist treatment.
Adding extra beds to Queensland hospitals will help more Queenslanders receive the care they need, when they need it most.
Expanding hospital capacity helps reduce pressure on busy emergency departments, supports faster access to elective surgery and improves patient flow across the health system.
More beds also mean patients can spend less time waiting for treatment and more time receiving care in the right setting, helping improve health outcomes for Queenslanders and easing pressure on frontline healthcare workers.
The Hospital Rescue Plan is backed by significant investment to strengthen Queensland’s health system for the future and support growing demand for healthcare services.
Queensland’s rapidly growing communities need health infrastructure that keeps pace with population growth.
The Hospital Rescue Plan will help ensure fast-growing regions like Coomera, the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Ipswich and North Queensland have the hospital capacity and services needed to support local families.
By expanding hospitals and delivering more services closer to home, Queenslanders will spend less time travelling for treatment and have easier access to the healthcare they need within their own communities.
These investments will also support local jobs during construction and help build a stronger, more sustainable health system for future generations of Queenslanders.
