Healthcare in Queensland is changing. Queensland Health is investing more than $11 billion in infrastructure projects, and a broad range of programs and initiatives, to relieve pressure on the system.

This includes seven new satellite hospitals across South-East Queensland, with facilities now open in Redlands, Caboolture, Ripley, Tugun and Kallangur. Eight Mile Plains and Bribie Island are opening soon.

Satellite hospitals

South-East Queensland’s new Satellite Hospitals are making healthcare more convenient. They offer different outpatient services based on the needs of the local community, including mental health, renal dialysis, chemotherapy, women and newborn services and allied health services.

Every Satellite Hospital also has a Minor Injury and Illness Clinic to provide treatment for non-life threatening conditions such as:

  • Simple fractures
  • Simple infections
  • Minor burns

Locations

For more information including opening hours and services, please see the website of your local Hospital and Health Service.

Minor Injury and Illness Clinics at the Satellite Hospitals are open seven days a week, are free for Medicare card holders and are accessible without an appointment.

Satellite Hospitals are not for life-threatening conditions. In an emergency always call Triple Zero (000) or go to your nearest Emergency Department.

New Medicare Urgent Care Clinics also offer free, walk-in urgent care services for non-life threatening illnesses and injuries. They are located at the Gold Coast, Logan, Ipswich, South Brisbane, North Brisbane and Murrumba Downs.

Your doctor or health worker should be your first stop for routine healthcare, including management of existing conditions.
